World Dance Day 2011

Participants of Moving Naturally sessions and workshops created a natural movement dance for World Dance Day 2011. This year's theme was open spaces and each dancer inspired by the coastal bird-life and their own  inners birds developed a solo movement piece. These solos were brought together, explored and expressed on a local Exmouth beach site. The Arts Council funded photograher Kevin Clifford to document this event. Local artist Michael Buckland came and sketched the on-site performance and captured the spirit of the movements. See below for short video clip by Nigel Wilkinson. On an around this day other dancers throughout Devon celebrated the magic and joy of dance in open spaces. World Dance Day Dances came together for the Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend on July 24 2011. It was held in the beautiful setting of Haytor from noon to 2pm and followed by a picnic. Moving Naturally Birds were found settling on some of the lower rocks to welcome  visitors. See below for short video clip by Nigel Wilkinson
